In my 15 years as a professional knitter I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a more popular pattern than Petite Knit’s Sophie Scarf.
I’ve encountered many people wearing it, even here in Estonia.
Heck I knit my own version earlier this year just to see what all the fuss is about.
And it’s easy to see why it’s so popular.
It’s a very easy project to knit.
But if you like the idea of a neck scarf and don’t want to follow the crowd, here are a few alternative patterns you might enjoy.

Elise Scarf by Paula Strickt
Why we love it: This scarflette keeps some of the feel of the Sophie scarf while incorporating some simple lace details in the center.

Falling Leaves Scarf by Iris Hardege
Why we love it: This pattern has a more organic feel, using lace leaf motifs to create flowing curves.

Duet Scarf by Heidi May
Why we love it: The texture in this scarf uses a broken rib pattern that gives it a nice sense of weight.

Barb’s Koigu Ruffle by Kit Hutchin
Why we love it: If you want a neck scarf with some wow factor this one looks more complicated than it really is.

Runo Scarf by Eva Miehe
Why we love it: This has a similar classy vibe to the Sohpie but uses classic ribbing for another level of sophistication.
Conclusion
So there you have it!
